I wish I could show you what it was really like.
There used to be a carpark there. Now the cars are gone and people cross the square in all directions, a quiet happy buzz around them on this sunny day that promises spring. With no cars crowding me, my gaze lifts to the sky and to Ulriken with its light sprinkling of snow.
Often I forget what a startlingly beautiful place I live in. Imagine a town surrounded by seven mountains!
I’m impatient, and I don’t have a tripod, so this panorama is far from perfect. The moment was far more beautiful than this can show you: bigger, quieter, whiter, and the sky was large and generous. You’ll have to come and see for yourself someday.

Oh, I like this! Every time I visit Bergen, something bad seems to have happened to
the cityscape. Nonneseter was torn down. Nedre NygÂrd, my old home, was changed beyond
recognition. M¯hlenpris was demolished. But now, something nice, at last. Hope it’s
a sign that something’s going to change.
