disney upset at lost ad revenue, plays “breach of copyright” card against blogger
I need to read and comment on chapters of an MA thesis, so this will be brief, but it sounds interesting – it seems a blogger ran a campaign against the Disney-owned radio channel KFSO, which runs a talk show whose host argues that torture is a great things and ridicules torture victims, demands that named journalists be hanged and asks its listeners to mock Islam. The blogger put recordings of some of these talkshows on his website and asked readers to write in and complain. He actually got many major advertisers (Visa, MasterCard, Bank of America and Netflix) to leave the station. Now, that, Disney didn’t like. So Disney have gone after the blogger for copyright violation (of the radio shows) and have had his website shut down. Fortunately, there are mirrors of the radio show excerpts – and Skippy links to contact info and help for those who want to continue the campaign. Or you can have a look at this YouTube video which neatly summarises some of the more atrocious remarks made on this radio show.
I wonder whether this will get enough attention to shame Disney into behaving decently and dealing with their hate speech mongering show host instead of crying copyright? Or will the radio show actually get more traffic and advertising thanks to the publicity? (via Birthe, Propaganda.no, and Technorati.)

Shame on the ISP for caving in so easily at first.
