OK, so everyone in Norway who doesn’t own a Mac uses MSN Messenger, not AIM or iChat. I clearly need both. And Skype. All running at once – or, if I can follow this rather complicated-looking explanation of how to integrate them, I might manage to end up with something like this:

Ichat Chat With Msn Msn Chat With Ichat

.. or start using Adium (http://www.adiumx.com/) which integrates them all seamlessly (and easily). But yahh, it is not iChat… I know.

I popped over to put in a recommendation for Adium, too. I’ve grown to love it, not least because it’s great to have all of your chat clients integrated. Now if they could just get iChat’s voice features included, I’d be set…

Adium, all the way. It has downloadable extensions to make it almost indestinguishable from iChat. Except for the lack of video conferencing, but MSN users won’t have that anyway…

It lets you tap into AIM/iChat accounts, as well as Yahoo!, MSN, Google Mail/Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, Lotus Sametime, Novell Groupwise, Zephyr, and Bonjour. I don’t even know what some of these are, but they’re supported…

Adium? really? I knew about Jabber, and then this site said that hey, iChat now has Jabber-something so you can do this.

The thing is, the only reason I really use iChat these days is precisely for the voice and video… and since MSN people mostly don’t do that there’d be a real point in getting iChat to do text with MSN and letting it do the voice and video with other iChatters…

Four visual registers for imaginaries of machine vision

I’m thrilled to announce another publication from our European Research Council (ERC)-funded research project on Machine Vision: Gabriele de Setaand Anya Shchetvina‘s paper analysing how Chinese AI companies visually present machine vision technologies. They find that the Chinese machine vision imaginary is global, blue and competitive.  […]
