snake

Like the apple and the goddess, the snake that tempted Eve is a symbol of (nature's) knowledge and evil. In "Mother Earth" (which has the filename parenthesis.html") typography is as important as the words. The poem is a snake.

It is a snake, because of its shape but also because of the words that make it. Lewis Carroll's poem of the same shape is not a snake at all but a mouse's tail.
